I reject the wording because it is understood by the world as meaning something totally different. It's more like the example of some christians saying that Trump is accomplishing God's work in the spirit of Cyrus. He is not possessed or reincarnated into Cyrus, but has the same direction and drive to accomplish what God wants done. You are right...it's not funny.
