Coz it ain't a literal day of 24hrs, that's why. The words day & days are frequently used throughout the OT to indicate periods of indeterminate or undefined lengths. That's one of many reasons why it is unnecessary to believe that the entire creation and geological record, etc., must be confined to 6 literal days. God is eternal and exists outside of time, as indicated in 2Peter 3.
