Thanks for the thorough and quick response, White Shark. Lots of great advice. A couple things I wanted to respond to.

For one, I totally agree about strict discipline, but I don't think it is black and white. In some cases, yes - when a person truly cannot moderate; but that is the key word: moderation. I do think it is possible to minimize but still enjoy certain foods, it just takes a ton of mindfulness and self-discipline.

My current plan is to transition out of Water Fasting with juices only for 2-3 days, then adding in over the next few days, steamed veggies and miso, fruits, salads, cooked veggies, nuts and seeds, eggs, and then fish and chicken. Eventually I will re-introduce small amounts of whole grains, dairy, grass-fed beef - but only as occasional treats. And every so often a glass of wine, and on very rare occasions a beer. I also find I do better on healthier sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, and coconut sugar.

In other words, a healthy, whole foods diet. As I go into it, I will pay attention to the impact on weight and psoriasis. The only foods that I'll avoid 99% of the time (except holidays, birthdays, etc) are cane sugar, corn syrup, heavily processed foods, junk foods, etc. In other words, no more Ben & Jerry's! :(

Going back to the question on ketosis, do you know how many carbs would stop ketosis? I've read both 50 and 100 grams. The snack I was most craving--tuna salad with organic, gluten free crackers--would probably be around 40ish carbs. I was tempted to try a fast at some point in which it was water-only all day, with that tuna and cracker snack at night, just to give some protein and sense of satisfaction. Do you think weight loss would be significantly less that way?

p.s. What is with this archaic forum formatting? It feels like 20 years old!
