So I decided to get microbiome testing fo my gut with ubiome. Over the past year, I've had some success with reducing my Body Odor , but my diet is still problematic, so I think it has hindered my success. I am still working on increasing my stomach acid and still taking Hyperbiotics-15 micro pearl probiotics because they've helped me a lot.

However, something from my results stood out to me. One of the bacteria in my gut is known as Odoribacter. Odoribacter derives its name from its rod shape and the foul odor it produces in the mouth of dogs. Basically, odoribacter is a foul-smelling bacteria and I have an extremely high amount of this bacteria; it exceeded the 99th percentile. It is the only bacteria that was high in my results. Everything else was either normal or low.

I smell bad and this is an odor-causing bacteria, so I think there is a correlation. There is no evidence (yet) that indicates it could be responsible for bad odor in humans, but if it can cause such a bad odor in a dog's mouth, I don't see why it wouldn't cause bad breath or bad Body Odor in humans. This bacteria still needs a lot more research, so there is not a lot of helpful information about it yet.

I did find a helpful post that said to lower it one should:

Avoid

Allergens
Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum
Bifidobacterium catenulatum
pomegranate juice
fermented Korean soybean paste
stress
animal-based diet

To fix it, a person should take:

Bifidobacterium longum, B. infantis, B. animalis, B. bifidum, B. adolescentis or B. breve
Oligosaccharide prebiotics

I am going to get some chicory root (an oligosaccharide) and add a new probiotic blend to my regimen that contains most of these cultures.

I think all of you who have insurance on here should get a microbiota test done. I feel that it can help you understand your gut a bit more and all of us need a better understanding of it to determine what is causing us to smell.
