Browbie:
You ask "is there any reason which makes me postpone or dislike surgery"? For the answers, please see my post: "Why do I refuse cataract surgery" in this forum.
As I said in that post, cataract surgery, like any surgery, comes with risks.
In this case, a higher risk of sight-threatening complications like retinal detachment which would require more surgery. This is not so rare: in fact, 50 cataract patients who had surgery at the same clinic in the US in February this year lost part or all of their vision a few weeks after the operation, apparently due to a mistake by a compounding pharmacy. And even if "successful", the end result is the replacement of your natural eye lens by an inferior plastic implant which is foreign to the eye. Now while that often does give excellent vision, it will never be "natural" vision as provided by your natural eye lens in terms of focal accommodation and scanning. All of these are compelling reasons why the first priority should be repair of your natural lens, not surgery. It is not as if that were impossible, because as long as 100 years ago, light therapy to clear cataract was successfully being practised by one eye doctor, and since the 1950's, many eye drops that successfully cleared some types of cataract in the lab, in animal models and even in humans, had been developed in various countries including the US. But the eye profession still adamantly refuses to acknowledge the importance of avoiding surgical risk, and restoring the clarity of the natural lens instead of summarily resorting to its destruction.
Some top ophthalmologists even told me, they don't want to cure cataract. Their refusal to honor their humanitarian commitment is the main reason why I refuse cataract surgery - even if I lose my sight.
