Well I will share my theory. To me it is not two different issues because one must truly believe that a person can hear from God. Most christians usually say they believe that God still speaks today, but when really pressed, by real life examples they backstep and talk as though they don't really believe it. I find this in most christians who have not had a personal experience of hearing the audible voice of God before. If it ever happens, you will view things much differently than you did before. Almost like a doubting Thomas that had an opportunity to touch the nail scarred hands of Jesus.

Because I have heard His voice, I tend to put myself in other people's shoes more on this issue. When they say they heard from God, I believe many of them. (not all though) Now for me it was easy to understand what God said because it was very biblical and very short, so it was easy to discern and to remember what was said.

However, I'm not sure all that hear from God is exactly like that. Some may have longer or more sentences to listen to. Some things may be more cryptic in nature. I know I had a very spiritual dream one time that was very symbolic and as I walked through the dream, a voice explained to me all the things that I saw and what the symbolic meanings were. I shared that dream with someone I knew that was shown to me in the dream. Now in this case it was sort of easy and sort of cryptic at the same time. It was all spelled out to me except for one thing...what the bondage the person was in. That was the only part I didn't know. So I played it safe and only told what I was, and as closely to word for word as I could and left it for the person to figure out what that bondage was. So I hope I did the right thing. But because of this experience I can see where people could make mistakes or add to the story somewhat in order to make the dream make more sense to the person.

So when I see these people in the public eye telling these amazing stories, I do have to wonder and discern them. So I hope you understand why this subject matter goes very deep for me.

But yes, I would like to hear whether you think these people can be forgiven or not. There has been much mentioned in these debates by people that does not sound like they can be. Like it's an automatic hell sentence. Now I can see it applying to a true con man, who swindles people and is never repentant. And then you have the one's who believe in being blessed and follow the teachings of the prosperity movement which I believe is not a balanced look at what scripture tells us about blessing us. The bible warns us the dangers of the love of money.

I understand your concern about the date prophecies. I would have to research it, but I can't think of any examples off the top of my head of any old time prophets being given dates to share. So because of that I would be nervous to share such a thing. But easily saying "don't do it", will not sit well, if you were told to share it. What would you do? Go and make an appointment with the nearest shrink because it's easier to seem crazy than to do what God says to do? lol
