Hi all! Long time lurker first time poster.
I'll spare you the details of a long battle with chronic illness, however to give an idea I was diagnosed hypothyroid Summer 2014, officially misdiagnosed as of Feb 2016, since considered to be Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome or perhaps Lyme Disease
I have been getting better and relatively symptom free since the turn of 2017, however recently bouts of fatigue, brain fog, dandruff/seb derm and digestive issues have begun to creep back into my life. I'm in a constant state of research (as I believe all those who are chronically ill must be as we must act as our own doctors for the most part) and believe candida to be playing a rather large role given recent symptoms being rather reflective of a yeast issue.
I immediately switched from a rather poor diet (which had been giving me no problems for 7/8 months) to a ketogenic diet in preparation for a Water Fast (which I'd been led to believe may somewhat starve the yeast), however caved after 3 days of keto and 2 days of a water fast.
I've woken up today with my seb derm having returned with an absolute vengance. Prescription and over the counter medications only seems to aggrevate my facial issue, that being my cheeks are blotched red, burning and covered in flakes. My mind feels fogged and I feel as though I'm running at 20% of the energy I was just a week ago.
This experienced combined with a similar one when adopting keto (that being a significant flare of symptoms once coming off of it) have put me off trying anything like that again, but now I simply feel at a dead end. I'm currently taking magnesium (helped for the common calf spasms associated with lyme, which a specialist suspected I have), good probiotics and a multivitamin and am feeling worse by the day.
I feel how I felt for the three years of illness before the turn of 2017, lethargic, fogged, run down and depressed. I thought I was on the way up and was ready to progress with life and leave this mystery illness behind me, but it seems that wont be the case.
If anybody is able to offer any form of treatment based on what I'm currently experiencing that'd be great! Thank you!
Matt
