No doubt the Silvergen guy is very cranky and in his 80's. Then again I'll probably be cranky too if I'm lucky enough to make it that far.
Just bought a new Silvergen after the old one died after 8 years. I spent lots of time shopping around, but didn't find anything better for convenience, quality output, ease of use etc for near the price.
I haven't checked the PPM, but even though I'm getting clean batches on the 20ppm setting (unlike my old unit that caused agglomeration at that level) - 10ppm has always done the job for anything I've thrown at it.
Including bronchitis, burns, eye/ear/mouth infections, cuts, colds etc.
You can get needlessly analytical about this spending too much time on the boards.
I'm sure your Silvertron elite will get the job done just as well, and brew up faster with the silver oz bar.
