So, here goes. Hi guys, my name is Chris, I'm 30 years old, 5'9 and 115kg (253lbs).
Basically I've been overweight for 25 years now. Thanks to a lifetime of bad habits, eating to make myself feel better or to cope with stress. The last 4 years I had serious weight swings around 3 times (going up and down 20-30kg at a time in 1-2 months. A side effect of feeling really down when in between jobs)
The last 2-3 months I managed to wrestle myself down to 115kg from around 135kg.
A week ago (after a very long afternoon of study on the subject) I decided to take a leap of faith and also to put my willpower to the test by starting a water fast. Plan is for 21 days but if by day 21 I feel good and am in healthy condition I will push it to 30 days if possible.
I've faced similar challenges last year though not on the same level (quit smoking and drinking alcohol after 15 years from 1 day to the next and have not lapsed since) and I'm hoping through discipline and sheer willpower I can jumpstart getting myself on track with my weight.
I am now on day 5-6 of my water-only fast. Last meal was Wednesday night at around 11pm, nothing but tap water since then. So far it has been very bearable apart from hunger pangs on the first 2-3 days and some mild fatigue on day 3-4 (also my need to hit the john every few hours since day 2 and what comes out isn't fun).
I kinda threw myself in the deep end here but that is the only way I know how. I am a serial procrastinator so a big life/mental change like this requires that I throw myself in and either sink or swim.
So far I'm soldiering through but was wondering if anybody has any good advice or general thoughts?
