Do you know if Amla is a nightshade or not.. ?
I am concerned about Amla / Indian Gooseberry being a nightshade in the Solanaceae family or does it just contain Solanine? I am very sensitive to nightshade foods- can cause up to 3 months joint pain.
Some places online list it as a nightshade and some do not!

This was listed on Amazon...
Amalaki Amla (Indian Gooseberry) powder 1lb (16oz) wild harvested, safety tested by Vadik Herbs
Amalaki Amla (Indian Gooseberry)...
$17.99
Does anyone know if this (Amla / Amalaki / Indian Gooseberry) is in the nightshade family?

Amy's list of nightshade fruits and vegetables says that it is a nightshade:

Amla is classified as a member of the Phyllanthaceae family; nightshades are all members of the Solanaceae family, so the answer is no.

Night shades are usually smaller annual plants. if you Google image the Indian gooseberry it's definitely a perennial large shrub or small tree. It doesn't have any of the characteristics of a night shade either. Night shades are commonly poisonous/inedible except the fruit (potato/tomato/peppers/tobacco). I know they use different parts of the gooseberry tree/shrub. I'm almost certain it's not even close to a night shade.

Do you know of any Amla in powder form? I might need to try a tiny bit to test-- I really want a good supplemental 'C' source.
