Okay, thanks Tansy! What's strange sounding about whooping cough is that medicines (natural or unnatural) that would normally kill off bacteria don't sound like they work real well for whooping cough, which is a bacterial infection. I think it has to do with something like little hairs that normally protect from mucous being destroyed by the whooping cough bacteria and those hairs have to grow back for things to get better, which is why this disease takes so long to get better, because those little hairs take a while to grow back. But doing whatever you can to support the body's immune system while the hairs have yet to grow back would surely help I would think.

"Whooping cough is caused by a bacteria called Bordetella pertussis . B. pertussis causes its most severe symptoms by attaching itself to those cells in the respiratory tract that have cilia. Cilia are small, hair-like projections that beat continuously and serve to constantly sweep the respiratory tract clean of such debris as mucus, bacteria, viruses, and dead cells. When B. pertussis interferes with this normal, cleansing function, mucus and cellular debris accumulate and cause constant irritation to the respiratory tract, triggering coughing and increasing further mucus production."
