All right, so I have decided to share my story in the hopes that it might help someone else, especially regarding a few mistakes I made, with my ongoing battle with enterobiasis a.k.a pinworm infection.
So it started out with what I thought was a simple ping pong infection in my house. Everyone got it so the wife and I made everyone do the noxious pyrantel routine. After about three weeks everyone seemed like they were good. In about three days I discovered that there is a such thing as hell on earth. More pyrantel didn't solve anything, it would appear that they only stay paralyzed for a very short period of time, if you are constipated, they will regain their motility and you are back to square one. I happened to be severely constipated. So I went to the hospital, they gave me ivermectin when I found out how much albendazole and mebendazole cost ($400 - $500 PER dose!) The dosage amount for he ivermectin was far too low. They came back after three days.
During this time period my worm burden was such that they were active almost 100% of the time. This is when I got a horrible idea. I thought, well what if I try to catch them... DO NOT do this. In doing this I managed to cross contaminate my face at some point. One night I felt a tickle in my nose as I was leaving work, and I thought, "Oh God, that felt like crawling." Let's skip the four hours I spent in the bathroom and just say it was exactly what I thought it was the evil vermin were in my nose. It was about that time that I saw three popping in and out of the corner of my eye. On Easter I got out of the shower and I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror, when I saw what I thought was something white pop out and very quickly pop back into my penis. Upon further inspection and a long period of patiently waiting, I found I was correct. Keep in mind during this time period everywhere I was finding them I was itching like crazy, my eyes burned so badly that they would tear up and I wouldn't be able to see off and on for long periods of time. I was sleeping three to four hours a day at most. I almost broke down. By Easter night I was back in the ER. I told the ER nurse what was going on and even brought a case study of this exact situation (eyes, nose, and urethra) that was posted by the National Institute of Health. I was again given ivermectin (in an inappropriately small dose, the NIH recommended three times what I was given for a significantly longer treatment time frame.) I will mention that the examination was cursory at best, she didn't even make an attempt to find evidence. At this point I was on week for or five like this.
I got on line and tried everything at anyone suggested from the herbal side of things, to some things that were just plain risky. At one point I was putting cayenne in my eyes, strangely if you get the measurement just right it only burns slightly and it does get them to calm down long enough to sleep for a little while.
My ears began to ring incessantly, and then I started to feel movement in my ear canals. I also have my septum pierced, and have had no jewelry in it for sometime, the worms found this and started using it to hide in. It tickled and itched so badly that I could only describe it as agony. This prompted me to go to another hospital, where I was to learn that even though the physician that I last visited was a lazy doctor, she was still being kind.
I told the charge nurse that I had pinworms, and he gave me a specimen container. I was constipated and hadn't evacuated for well over four days, so I said I would try. (The truth is that during this three month period I could only poop really thin stools mostly, and had to rely on enemas to assuage the discomfort when I got too bad.) I shared that information.
So eventually I wound up in an examination room. Being sleep deprived, there were some warning signs that I failed to miss. I was getting strange looks, and when the physician came in the room she gave me a half assed look over. The next thing that she did should have been a red flag but I missed it. She walked to the other side of the room, and began to talk to me. She started talking about a local mental health facility, I should have been alarmed, but I was too tired to care. I told her that I had a hole in my nose that they were inhabiting, she reacted well... strongly and told me I had no holes in my nose, I did explain the septum piercing. She went to speak to her supervisor, at which point I began to worry. I decided that I was operating in a state of diminished awareness and faculty, so (this is the first smart thing I did so far...) I called my wife, and told her she had to get herself to the hospital, and help me. So, the physician came back into the exam room and told me that I would be having an MRI so they could make sure there were no eggs in my brain. I heard myself saying okay, even though I was thinking that it made no sense. She then subjected me to a physical exam and brought to female nurses in an attempt to embarrass me, little did she know I don't have that problem, got rid of it in the army. At this point they left.
A nurse came back in with a little cup of pills at which point my awareness went into fight or flight overdrive. I demanded to know what they were, ativan if you're curious. They were trying to sedate me! I took them, and then off to an MRI.
Afterwards, I went into a waiting room, where thankfully, my wife showed up. A new nurse comes in with a pair of paper scrubs, and tells me they are going to do blood work, and I have to put them on. At this point I went into full fight or flight mode, I made every argument that I could to prevent this. My wife said that she had to put on a hospital gown to do a blood test the last time she had one, and I calmed down, went to the bathroom, and changed. The nurse then tried to take the bag that my clothes were in which sent me back into full alert. I talked her into leaving them with my wife.
Time for the second most aggressive and painful blood test of my life. My wife started getting really upset, and she voiced all of her opinions on how slip shod the nurses needle work was. Then she said that we were in the wrong room for this kind of thing. When the nurse left I started thinking about the thing my wife said about the room, and I started looking around. It was about this time that I noticed that there was a camera in the left corner of the room and it was facing me. Then I saw that the door only locked from the outside.
The the nurse brought me a form to fill out. I was a voluntary commitment waiver. So, I panicked. I refused to fill it out. Then I went to the bathroom and changed. I told my wife that it was time to go. Fast Forward, several Sheriffs and a very aggressive and physical orderly later, I found my self in a holding cell in the psych ward. Thankfully, my wife went into red alert and made sure she stayed right there with me. I am glad she did, because she had witnessed the things crawling out of my nose, and her saying that is the only thing that kept me from being committed against my will. I found out that the physician told them I said I would kill myself, (I never said this, I not yet felt like this was beyond hope.)
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY IN A MEDICAL SETTING, AND TAKE A WITNESS WITH YOU THAT CAN BACK UP YOUR CLAIM!
I went home and took an apple cider vinegar bath, and all hell broke loose. They scattered like crazy. It was excruciating. A this point they invaded the pores on my scalp, face, face, neck, back, basically everywhere. They were also much smaller than the pinworms I had seen so far, perhaps they were larvae? Thankfully, someone on curezone recommended coconut oil, and it worked to relieve most of it, but make no mistake, a few survived.
A month and a ton of Wormwood and Black-Walnut later, the numbers had subsided, and I even had nights where I could sleep. Then I made a new mistake. I decided a little Sugar would be okay, this was a MONUMENTAL ERROR. Population explosion. A week of torture and...
That brings us to today, Durvet 1.87% ivermectin horse wormer. I have had killer results so far, this is the second day. I have taken it internally and used it as a topical in my ears and nose. Worms died immediately, a lot of them. They are still coming out when I blow my nose. I don't know how to get the dead ones out of my ears though.
Thank You for taking the time to let me share my story. I will let you know if this works, and if so, I will share how I did it.
