Help! Since starting Iodine my thyroglobulin went up from 11.46 to 139.40 (Ref Lab: 1.40-78.00). I had developed a small goiter (result of today test)and i am having a "kind of" neck pain around the thyroid.
Here are the next tests in different times from 10 months ago till now.
Antibodies tested negative before in both tests (ANTI Thyroglobulin and Antithyroperoxidase) and now i only tested for ANTI Thyroglobulin which came down negative, but i didn't test Anti TPO this time.
TSH: 6.55(Before) 2.14(Now) (Ref: 0.27-420)
Free T3: 3.07(Before) 2.39(Now) (Ref: 2.00-4.40)
Free T4: 1.11(Before) 1.14(Now) (Ref: 0.85-1.71)
I started on Iodine around 2 months ago, and i took with it Selenium (4 Brazil Nuts a day, Ascorbic Acid (3-5g), Himalayan Salt (10g), Sodium Borate (or Borax - 15 to 20mg). They don't sell in my country b2 and b3 so i didn't take them.
I started low (2drops of Lugol's Solution 5%) and worked my way up pretty quickly (like 2-3 Weeks) to around 150mg. The reason why is because even though i had an increase in energy i was waiting for the "detox" which i never had. So scared of going higher i started to go lower in Iodine working my way off to 12.5mg. I did that because i started feeling pain in my throat and the doctor wanted to do a test.
I only noticed a bit of boost in energy levels, but the huge drawback was that i lost a noticeable amount of strength and work capacity in the gym, to the point of almost stopping working out (i am serious). I started with the purpose of having normal thyroid hormone levels (i am hypothyroid) but i think i made it a lot worse. I really don't know what to do, thyroglobulin levels doctors say "are a predictor of thyroid cancer", and i know that the iodine caused that.
Today because i want the thyroglobulin tests to normalize to where they were i stopped the iodine and other companion nutrients.
I am man (20yo) and my family has history of hypothyroidism.
I was told that iodine could help but i think it made it worse.
Please if someone knows what can i do tell me. I can answer whatever question you have if i know. Thank you.
