My lips have been scabbing up for months now (2 large scabs on bottom lip). This process started because I peeled some flaking skin off my lips when they were very dry. Since peeling the flaky skin off, my lips have been raw, red, and would form scabs, which get torn off from eating. drinking, or biting. This is definitely not an internal problem (no candida, overall great health).
My lip is finally starting to heal after leaving the scabs on for more than a week. For just over a week, I have kept the scabs on, mostly by wetting my lips with water multiple times a day, and then using an Antibiotic calendula cream just to hold the peeling parts of the scabs down. I have been drinking through straws and eating food that requires minimal chewing. I have kept talking to a minimum.
Yesterday, my left scab came off and there is still some redness left, but it looks significantly better than the last time the lip was raw and exposed. I am confident that my lips will heal if I leave them alone for a long enough time.
