Toxoplasmosis is a protozoa infection that is transmitted from cats, it is responsible for the crazy cat lady syndrome since it gets into the brain. But this is a protozoa and not a nematode (worm), two different things.

Charcot Leyden is associated with nematodes such as Ascaris (roundworm), perhaps your doctor needs more education but don't tell him that since he knows everything.

Dr. Kevin Cahill is in NYC and charges about $500 for the testing and office visit. He is one of the last helpers in this field.

Dr. Daniel Griffin is an infectious disease doctor in the New York area. I know about him from the TWIP podcasts (This Week in Parasitism) which you can listen to the podcasts.
