A close female friend with a decades long history of PTSD was fairly similar. Some supplements kick in within hours. Getting the right combo of supplements, maybe meds and diet can have very substantial effect in weeks.

Unfortunately some people have to start with very low doses of adrenal cortex medication--hydrocortisone, etc--and gradually work up to the long-term dose. Apparently it takes a while for the body to adjust.
