Somebody said recently that cars used to be made in the US, and you wouldn't want to drink tap water in Mexico. Now, your cars are made in Mexico, and you can't trust US tap water. The residents of Flint, Michigan, might well agree with that. Meanwhile, corporations like Nestle have been 'granted' licenses to raid your best water supplies (aquifers, springs etc), so that they can bottle it, then sell it back to you at inflated rates.

The secret is to erode your freedoms in small, imperceptible increments. That way, their erosion is virtually undetectable, while the illusion of freedom is still maintained. In time, what few freedoms you have left will also fall by the wayside, but you won't be able to do anything about it by then, except at huge personal cost - as refreshed has apparently already discovered for herself. 

Yes, anybody determined enough to commit mass murder can go on a rampage with whatever 'weapon' is to hand, including a semi. Even with our tight gun control laws, we still managed to have our own mass-murder incidents. Hungerford (1987) and Dunblane (1996) come to mind.

Our laws were tightened up even more after those incidents, but that still doesn't equal 100% security from, for example, terrorist attacks. We have those too, but mercifully they succeed very rarely these days.
