The biggest issue with an implant is how the body reacts to having something in your body that is foreign-24-7-365.

There are blood test that can help determine if your body will react and they are cheap.

I did see one small study showing metal lowering a persons immune system by 50%.
Be very careful with metals and ask the person suggesting an implant to site the studies on a bodies immune system before and after implant.
