I'm not sure if this has already been discussed or not but the Puritans believed in a Revivalist postmillennialism. Which is a little different for they believed that the non-governmental people (the little guy) would be the one's who brought about the change, where as the Post-millennial view you are speaking of is where the people want representatives high in the government to cause the changes in people's hearts.
