This is a very helpful dialogue, thanks everyone. I was recently diagnosed with hasimotos and also prescribed 3 drops of Iodine ... after a few days I was one very unhappy camper not to mention I couldn't think. I stopped the Iodine drops for a week and then read on a website Iodine should be supplemented with selenium.. I did that and restarted iodine with one drop in mornings and 1 in afternoon... each time I have the iodine I notice that front lobe dull headache and also fully lips and a little laboured breathing ... I drink a lot and eat some starch and it subsides - thinking I am detoxing ... would this be correct or is it dangerous- is it slowly overloading my body? I have candida in my lungs so perhaps my breathing difference is explainable ... but what about my lips - they aren't huge, probably normal size but they feel puffy. On the upside my thinking is starting to come back to before the iodine first freak out which lasted about a week of low thinking capacity and unhappy thoughts...I want to feel and think better ... my clinician is taking a long Christmas break so no help there... other internet articles say hasimotos shouldn't have iodine at all... can anyone offer input please
