I've not tried it before, but powdered fruits and vegetables (and things like wheatgrass) probably vary in quality like dried herbs and spices. Some are dried using really high temperatures making them brownish and without a strong flavour. I've had heat dried barley grass and compared to freeze-dried barley grass, it was browner and lacking in taste. Perhaps see if freeze-dried papaya powder is available? I'm also from Australia, and it's hard to find a lot of things here!
