I feel obligated to comment as a result of my three visits to Paul Plascyk.
I made the appointment because he repeatedly states on his website that he "avoids surgery, root canals..etc." On the first visit he suggested that he perform surgery to trim my gums for aesthetic purposes. (on molars in the back of my mouth that are hidden!)
He also represents himself as having the skills to safely remove mercury fillings. I became aware of the delicacy of that procedure after reading a few articles about the danger of breathing the mercury during drilling because it can end up in your brain. I wanted mine removed properly, as he advertises.
I had some misgivings and did more research and found that there is a certification offered by the prestigious International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology called SMART. The only way that you can be certain that your dentist has the knowledge required to safely remove mercury is with this certification.
Following is the link to the NC certified dentists,
https://iaomt.org/search/?wpbdp_view=search&dosrch=1&listingfields[2]=66&listingfields[17][zip]=&listingfields[17][mode]=zip&listingfields[17][radius]=50&kw=

If you scroll to the end you will see Paul Plascyk's name, as a member only. He is neither accredited by the organization or certified by SMART. He has attended only one meeting since he joined in 2000.
I think that he pays member fees so that he can use their logo/information on his website as if he is a serious, active member. An entire page on his website is about him as an "IAOMT Dentist". Check it out.
I could go on. He says a lot of stuff. I just did not find evidence that he practices what he says or that he has the knowledge required. His picture on his website says it all. He has a goofy smile like it is all a joke.
I think he moved here and needed a niche that would attract clients.

There is a Dr Palmer in Greenville, SC. He is actually accredited by the IAOMT and is certified by SMART.
Also, Dr Carl Mcmillan in Cornelius is accredited by the IAOMT and certified SMART. I am considering both. Check the dentist search on the IAOMT website

I have put off making an appointment fearing another Plascyk experience. My hang-up.

Best of Luck in your search
