This is disheartening because I will be having a stool test soon and if I had a reading of 85% bad bacteria that would warrant a follow up test.. I realise they are many hundreds of £/$ each but 85%?? Is that not worth further investigation??

I know JSL is not on here much and he probably won't see this, but recently he remarked on having done loads of tests and trying loads of diets and not getting results he wanted.

The trouble is in knowing whether his results are a direct representation of his gut (a snapshot in time) and whether or not ratios would be dramatically different were it to be done on another day. I suppose that's a question for an gastroenterologist or naturopath. It would be interesting to see how much the good/bad ratios fluctuate from one week of a change in diet, if only to get an idea of timescale requirements for diet plans.

With regards to the things he listed above; it does not really constitute a protocol....?!? I mean probiotics, that could be pill form (off the shelf probiotic) which may contain a fraction of the live cultures it says it does, or worse, none at all.

Secondly, no mention of prebiotics which are non-living (basically the food for good bacteria to thrive on).

Thirdly, no mention of food combining, fermented foods. In terms of actual food and not supplements sources, he mentions colostrum, is that all he did??

Fourtly, no mention of eating times and quantities.

We can talk about food elimination etc etc, but it makes sense to increase substantially the amount of pro/pre biotics, that means quality and quantity. I'm less interested in food elimination at this stage.

I would be interested to know exactly what the supplements were and in what quantities?
