The least a saline solution soothes infection. I can't push anyone to do what I did, that I have 24 hours a day 7 days a week without peeling, or any symptom of ec for me is a big deal. Not having to think about it is a cure for me.
I can agree that the soaking can be seen as maintaining, but as on all other websites where people were battling athletes foot or nail fungus they kept up the soak between 3 to 6 months in order to kill it, time will tell, what you call maintaining can be construed as being a part of the cure in killing off the yeast...eventually.
But since my lips look normal I am satisfied.

I do agree that some people may have a deeper health issue to deal with which the soaking may not address.

I still think that a saline solution soothes infection at a basic level, my remedy is one on the level of folk medicine, I think people will know if they've got something more than chapped peeling lips ie if its more than ec.
