Thanks so much man I appreciate the support. I'm not sure exactly how to proceed but I can tell you now I don't think you will find the salt soaking counter-productive.
If it gets to a point for me where the soaking doesn't cure the EC alone I've still got the calendula ointment.
One thing I never ever do now is peel the lips. If they look a bit dry/unsightly I apply the calendula and leave alone and this is what got them from red to pink. So long as I can maintain that, even if things don't improve much beyond that point with the salt baths, at least I am not going backwards.
Perhaps the candida theory is worth a proper examination? In my view introducing probiotics isn't going to disrupt my life as much as some of the stuff in the links WhiteShark mentioned. A complete dietary overhaul I just can't put myself through at this point - rather trying to balance the scales by eating more probiotics is realistic for me at this stage. The shop bought sauerkraut I really enjoyed, I bought some fermenting bottles today and tomorrow I'm going to can some organic cabbage and being introducing femented foods as sides/garnishes into main meals.
Let's do what we can. I'm not going to give up on this shit. For me it's about making changes which don't involve me going crazy. Life goes on in the meantime doesn't it?
