With gastritis, which tends to be a very chronic condition, you have to start out with very low doses. I would do the Plan first, as it naturally increases HCL levels slowly. Afterward, you can look at using HCL. You would open the capsules and start with just a pinch at a time and slowly increase the amount. It can be done, just takes time.
