I always "seeded" my batches with the Silver Puppy, and it is certainly effective at kick-starting the process.

Given the tiny amount of sodium carbonate used as electrolyte (20 drops of nearly saturated solution per quart of water is the recommendation, and so far I've been getting by with just 15 drops), I see no cause for alarm so long as:

a) it doesn't alter the essential nature of the ionic silver, and

b) the resulting product is not being used IV

That said, I'll experiment a bit. Using electrolyte at or near SilverTron's recommended levels makes the SilverTron a true one-touch setup -- turn it on, adjust the cathode length to maintain >10V, and let it run. Using lesser amounts of electrolyte results in having to make repeated adjustments to the cathode length as the conductivity of the batch increases. I'd expect much the same when using the seeding method unless the batch is seeded fairly heavily. Yes? No? (I assume, based on your post, you are either seeding or you are a very patient man.)
