B4 DEC use , the dogs must first be cleared of adult heart worms and micro filaria to avoid fatal reaction . http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/pharmacology/anthelmintics/miscellaneous_anthelmintics.html?qt=DEC&alt=sh If it's not safe for dogs with heart worm I would assume humans can be succeptable to same fatal reaction . DEC is a derivitave of piperazine .
