cash can never be backed by the gold standard because no one would trade food for gold when everyone is hungry.

today cash is backed by the government to ensure everyone is fed, because the military can take ownership of private land in a time of crisis with force.

the economy will never collapse to where paper money has no value and people starve, that is why there is food stamps by the government.
