Two more things that are improving my brain function/helping my recovery:
1. The digestive enzyme, papain. I am trying a product called Papaya Mint Digest-Aid. Made by Nature's Sunshine. It's a bit expensive, unfortunately, but I buy it when I can.
The tablets are made from green papaya, peppermint leaf and oil, plus a little sugar.
Taken before or with a meal, they aid digestion.
Taken on an empty stomach, they seem to be clearing/cleaning the body, and after several months taking them (for a week or two, then a break of a week or two, then taking them again) I have noticed an improvement in my brain. A sort of "clearer" feeling. It's as if brain signals are travelling a bit more smoothly and cleanly.
I can only speculate what the tablets are doing. I hope the green papaya is "eating up, digesting and removing" tiny bits of built-up "debris" (damaged tissue, collected dried blood that have accumulated since my accident) in the brain. Well, that is my hope. Something beneficial is definitely happening, that is certain.
2. Brain Gym exercise. I know only one Brain Gym exercise, shown me by a friend who has a brain injury.
Exercise: move the eyes, in unison, in a horizontal figure 8 (an '8' that is lying down, on its side).
Do it several times in one direction, rest a few moments, then move the eyes in the reverse direction of the horizontal figure 8.
I hope that makes sense.
Apparently this strengthens the synapse/s that connect the two hemispheres of the brain.
I have found that doing this tires the brain, giving a feeling that my brain has "worked out". It is a good feeling.
