I'm Hypothyroid not thought to be Hashimoto's. I've tested (blood and urine) low in Iodine for years)
I want to supplement or eat more Iodine rich foods but if I were to supplement I would want to take all the suggested co-factors. ...
The co-factors from STTM were listed as:
Selenium (see note below) – 200 – 400 mcg per day
Magnesium – 400 – 1200 mg per day
Vitamin C – 3,000 – 10,000 mg per day
Vitamins B2/B3 (ATP CoFactors) – 100 mg riboflavin and
500 mg no flush niacin, inositol hexanicotinate form, 1-2x per day
Unrefined Salt (Celtic) – 1/2 tsp. or more per day
However, I am so sensitive to everything… I have not found at Vit C that I can take that does not cause me bowel bleeding (I have tried about 7 forms even in small doses) and even a dose of NO Flush Niacin causes me horrible painful flushing. I take Magnesium L-Threonate and I have no idea what 400 to 1,200 Mg would be because it goes by a different dosing than the other magnesium forms. Perhaps it would be to bowel tolerance.
I eat pretty clean Paleo diet, low red meat, some fruit- mostly berries and (Kiwi's for high C), no gluten, very low grain, no nightshades, very low caffeine. The nightshades and caffeine cause me joint pain.
Can I get by with Food instead of Supplements for the ones that bother me? Or how can I find small doses of these to work up from if I'm even able to do that?
