Yes, those things did not work for North but he has also pointed out the obvious fact that different things work for different people. I personally love fish oil and it has helped a lot but it was again kind of dosage related. It wasn't until I bought the super pricey nordic naturals and took it more than recommended where it seemed to make a difference.
Lots of information and a good dosage guide can be found at 'thewayup.com'. She's an Angel. :)
A good starting off point for L-Trytophan is 500 mgs per each 50 pounds of weight, taken one hour before bedtime. It can make you drowsy and helps sleep. The brand is not super important it seems but most prefer pharmaceutical mixtures. I love the stuff that german company makes (listed in my other post)
You may know this but another important factor when taking certain aminos is the CO-ENZYMES(!) You need to have B-Complex in your life in great abundance to break it down properly. I think it is actually B-6 which is the direct chemical co-enzyme but don't quote me on that. I take the run of the mill 'twin labs' liquid b complex, a squirt in my juice or water or green tea twice a day. You HAVE to have the co-enzymes in your diet or the aminos will not get absorbed into happy_juice by your brain. But of course, all of the neurochemicals that this stuff creates are valuable for more than just happiness and mood. They are crucial to many of the body's funtions..
I have had anxiety and heart palpitations calm down due to my vitamin-amino regiment and think it would be a great idea for you too although consulting a good naturopath is always the wisest solution.
Best to you,
brt
