Yes a lactulose/mannitol test is the standard test to diagnose permeability. It is currently being used to research the permeability of the digestive systems of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome sufferers in the UK at a university by a PhD student.
However I can pretty much guarantee that you do have Increased Intestinal Permeability Syndrome based upon what you have said and therefore it would only really provide a firm result rather than anything more positive. I think I provided iris charts, I suggest that you check your irises to see if there are the markings that I indicated because that would provide more information than any medical test. It's clear in mine showing just how permeable my digestive system is and many people do not show such markings because their digestive systems are not so badly infected and the biofilms are not large enough.
If I was you I would avoid Whey protein as it is highly reactive. Ideally amino acids would be the best thing as your body will not react to them although the acidity would provide some problem to the bacteria but that would be fairly short lived and you could maybe do an acid/base reaction and neutralize the acidity to help prevent it.
Have you had any liver function tests done? What are your liver enzymes like? AST/ALT? I would guess that they are elevated as are mine. Tu Si Zi is meant to help lower these along with many other beneficial effects. I have been taking Tu Si Zi for many years and my liver enzymes are still slightly elevated. The herb also helps the adrenal glands which might also help you.
I would say that you are probably allergic and reacting to everything! I am too as I have had a skin prick test at a hospital which showed that I had IgE antibodies to all the foods that I had been eating.
The problem you have with fat might be the time that it takes to digest! Fat is very slow to digest and it does provoke stomach acid as part of the digestive process and that combined with how long it stays in the stomach is probably what causes all the problems. Taking Pancreatin along with it should significantly speed up the digestive process. I use the now foods pancreatin immediately before taking my protein and fat and it all clears my stomach in around 2 hours or so providing that I do not swallow saliva. You did mention how your nose runs, mine does too and saliva increases dramatically. I am also diabetic and low blood Sugar dramatically increases saliva output which indicates how important the effect that cortisol plays in the process.
Vegetables should be fairly okay but you might still react a bit to them but not as significantly as most protein foods. Fruits should be okay too, bananas should be a good food as they provoke digestive mucus production and they are high in potassium. I love them and cannot eat enough of them. I buy many kilos 6-7 at a time.
Grains are probably best avoided as many people can react quite significantly to them. Oats might be okay but even those can cause some problems for some people. Whatever you take take some pancreatin along with it. Anything which does not produce stomach acid should be best of all. But unless you take amino acids or hydrolyzed protein you are going to react to it and you are most likely protein deficient as I was. My skin would not heal properly until I starting my current way of eating but since then I do form proper raised scabs and heal much better than I have done in many years.
Other Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome sufferers have got benefit from fasting, it's not surprising but your body needs protein as you probably have a high cell turnover and need to restore so you desperately need protein but as I already said, it's difficult getting it digested without issues. I have to spit out all saliva while I digest protein to prevent extreme exhaustion. I would just sleep and sleep if I did not do what I do ATM. Getting the protein digested ASAP is helpful. Pancreatin is helpful and so is taking supplemental HCL. I use Malic Acid a couple of teaspoons in a pint glass mixed with Sea Salt and wash my mouth around with water and then swallow 3 HCL capsules washed down with Malic acid/salt. Doing it without swallowing saliva is difficult but can be done. The fat, I take a small amount of coconut oil with Omega 3 oil just before taking the pancreatin. Lowering stress levels with relaxation would help too but you would need to relax before you eat your protein.
Meat and fish, maybe but I would recommend that if you eat them, liquidize them to make them digest faster. You need to keep the digestion as quick as possible and breaking them down by liquidizing in a blender and then warming in a pan and drinking quickly!
I do recommend that you try Methylcobalamin as it should help calm your immune system. Try a pack of capsules/tablets 5mg and take a high dose. Be aware that such high doses can affect the circulatory system at least in diabetics which I am. It stops all the joint and muscle pain for me.
Trying to optimize your methylation and see if you can get that up and running might be worth doing. I have never managed to get it working properly and I have to supplement with MSM for extra methyl groups which helps my mood and makes me feel a lot better.
I am not a believer in faeces transplants, I do not think that they are helpful as they will not kill the bacteria in the stomach and without destroying them there can be no improvement.
I hope that helps Marcus. A spit bucket helps but you have to be careful not to "kick the bucket" lol joking. I have kicked it over on numerous occasions which is not fun.
