Hi Joe,
I was hoping you would notice my message and give some wise feedback. Thank you! :-)
So here are my further thoughts and some developments:

1. Mercury fillings
In spite of my initial reservations I decided to continue chelating using the AC protocol. (4th round. So far so good :-))
Yes, I agree - it is very very unlikely to have small particles of mercury still hiding somewhere under the replacement fillings, especially with the panoramic x ray not revealing anything suspicious. The fact that my dentist and you - a person with good experience in chelating, think these same thoughts, gives me confidence.

2. Crowns
Fortunately, all metal crowns were removed so potential sources of mercury (and nickel) are gone.
BTW: I read that chelating agents, like DMSA also pull metals other than mercury so my uneducated logic was that even crowns (which contain nickel ) should be removed because they may be leaching something unsafe. This is only a conjecture but it is corroborated somewhat with what happened to me:
-I have been allergic to some metallic ingredients in certain steel products (maybe nickel?) for some time;
-started chelating with iv ALA with‘silver’ fillings ALREADY REMOVED but metal crowns still remaining;
-ended up feeling sick and with mild stabbing pain in the kidneys;
-stopped chelating and decided to have all metal crowns removed as well.

As it turned out this was a very good move –my dentist was shocked to see massive ‘tattoos’ which developed under two of the crowns. Both my gums and the bone which were in direct contact with crowns were discoloured. The staining of the gum disappeared completely within the next two weeks which tells me that it was caused by the crowns. My gut feeling is that the few rounds of intravenous ALA may have exacerbated the staining because my dentist never in his career saw such large stains in association with crowns.

3. Dental tools
I totally agree, mercury is not present in dental tools (ie endodontic needles, root canal files etc) but this was not my concern. I just do not believe that pieces of these instruments, when stuck in the root canal until ‘death us part” are entirely inert. My idea is that they should be removed (a number of reasons why but I won’t elaborate). Accidents where they snap are actually not that rare. I know of a few people who ended up with these objects permanently embedded in their teeth … unfortunately :-(
