Your first photo gives an indication where the lips are damaged. The scabbing/crusting is the skin healing over. It will takes many cycles of this to heal the lips - as others have said many months. Use aquaphor if it makes life easier (it stays on for longer). The reason I don't use it is because I wake up with the taste of it at the back of my throat and it seems to loosen the scabs which is what you don't want. You are going to need to learn a lot of patience.
