Unfortunately, you might have a hard time convincing her to consider alternatives. No disrespect to your mom, but the older generation are usually slightly less flexible in their outlook, and generally place greater trust in state-approved protocols. There is an understandable resistance to anything else, especially when it's labeled as 'snake oil' and 'quackery' by the EBM/SBM crowd.

Having said that, if your mom can be persuaded to look elsewhere before she allows herself to be butchered, she could do a lot worst than to check out these sites for alternative cures:
