Hi FreeAgentNoob,

Since I'm a graduate student I don't have classes everyday, which helps slightly. My lips still do peel on days that I do attend class and meetings, but because it is with people I know it's not as frightening. I suppose my cohort is polite about my condition even though I'm always aware of it. What I would suggest for you is to seek out a counselor at your school who can help you cope with EC. Obviously, they wouldn't know how to treat it, but they can help alleviate some of the stress involved. Also, meeting new people helps and surround yourself with those who are accepting. I wouldn't let this condition take away from your new college experience. When I first started college I had EC as well, but not as bad now. I guess what helped me was applying some type of Chapstick throughout day. During that time I didn't have yellow crusts and my lips didn't turn white in contact with water so it was easier to conceal it. Then, it just looked like extra dry lips instead of like an illness. Since you don't have the yellow crusts you will have more mobility and I still think you can have a nice social life. Every day won't perfect, but take advantage of any opportunity that comes your way.
