They call it rightly "dividing the word of truth" even though the Bible does not state scriptures to back up this cessationism belief. They use scriptures which they greatly twist and tell people that their view is correct and rightly dividing scripture. Using the words "rightly dividing the word of truth" gives them great credibility in the eyes of some.
It does not matter to cessationists that miracles are done in the name of Jesus. They will attribute these miracles to works of the devil as being the false signs and wonders of which the Bible warns. They do not believe that any signs and wonders are from God in today's world. Vektek has been greatly brainwash by ministers such as John MacArthur and Justin Peters who even have high degrees from seminaries. I suppose these degrees give them credibility too in the eyes of some. John and Justin frequently play the "rightly dividing the word of truth" line too.
I started listening to Justin Peters because Vektek was on here stating how great his messages are. Then I heard him say that people like me are not saved and are worshiping another Jesus. I now realize that Vektek does not believe that I am saved either. How could she think that I am saved if she believes that Justin Peters is preaching the truth and is some great man of God?
When I saw the video of Justin Peters being turned down for prayer at a Benny Hinn crusade I felt sorry for him. I thought they should have prayed for him. Now, I find out from listening to Justin, that he was not really trying to get to Benny so that Benny could pray for him after all. Justin had no faith that he would be healed. Justin was only putting on a show for his cameras so that he could try to provide proof that Benny Hinn was a bad guy. He wanted to do this for his research paper that he was working on at his seminary. Now I ask who is being deceptive? I realize now that Justin should have been turned away as the workers for Benny wisely did. Maybe they were even able to discern the insincerity in Justin. With that many people at a crusade they cannot let everybody up on stage to be prayed for by Benny. People should understand that would not be possible and that impossibility would not make Benny a bad guy. They need to seek the Holy Spirit for wisdom.
I'm not trying to defend Benny either because I know he has said some crazy things as well as taught some weird stuff. Benny was put into ministry at a young age and as a fairly new Christian. He had no theological education from what I understand. This has caused him to make some major mistakes that I doubt he will ever live down. I have personally heard him admit to some of them. This means he is growing spiritually and in theological knowledge. I do believe that Benny is saved and worshiping the real Jesus. I also believe he still has much to learn and much to overcome. I rarely listen to Benny because I do not trust his teaching. I believe Benny has operated through the gifts of the Spirit from time to time, but that does not make him theologically correct. It does not make him a mature Christian either.
The biblical book of 1 Corinthians gives a great lesson on spiritual maturity and the gifts of the Spirit. Yes, babes in Christ can be operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Many Pastors are just babes in Christ and feeding off of the milk of the word instead of the meat of the word. These babes are trying to feed others. It would be nice if all Christians could mature in Christ, but it just doesn't seem to be happening. Even years of seminary and preaching the word does not cause spiritual maturity. This could be a cause of some of the major false doctrines such as cessationism.
