An anti-depressant will not cure the underlying condition of EC. Taking anti-depressants may only cause someone to alter their behaviour and bite or pick their lips less but there are always serious side effects with anti-depressants as they alter your brain's chemical signalling.

Best to avoid them completely and instead treat the pathology itself, ie. antibacterial and anti-inflammatory treatments.
