What I can say for sure is that low GI diets don't work... [1]

> "The GI is based on the blood-sugar response of eating a single food. But when’s the last time you ate only bananas for dinner? “You can’t add up the GI index of individual foods in a meal and make a prediction of how your blood Sugar will respond,” says Isaacs. Foods work together to impact blood sugar, and the GI doesn’t take that into account." [1]

And it's not just that... it's based on my own diabetic journey...

I tried low GI foods and the problem above was definitely one of them...

And fibre alone isn't enough to control blood Sugar spikes if you don't know about "good" carbs...

I had to hunt around for a better way...

Any how, when it comes to foot ulcers I never got it as bad as what you had to go through because I got my blood Sugar under control fast...

Though before that my feet were always splitting open on the bottom, refusing to close and heal...

It wasn't until I brought my blood sugar down that they vanished...

Good alternatives to GI diets are Paleo, LCHF and another diet I discovered that goes beyond those two... though the person started with Paleo/LCHF he eventually moved away because it's possible to do Paleo/LCHF wrong...

You can check out http://diabetesmasteryblueprint.com for the full free guide he released... If you want the whole course you'd have to go to http://how-to-treat-diabetes.com/...

If you want to start with Paleo you can go to Rob Wolf's Paleo Solution which I also read:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Paleo-Solution-Original-Human/dp/0982565844

And there's always Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint which is a bit more down to earth for the average joe...

http://www.amazon.com/Primal-Blueprint-Reprogram-effortless-boundless/dp/0982207786/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1456102263&sr=1-1&keywords=primal+blueprint

You're best bet is to stick to whole foods...

Unlike the Paleo guys, I've found that as a diabetic, you may be sensitive to meat and could "overdose"...

I can't eat red meat for that reason...

Plus red's got some sort of sugar that boosts body damaging inflammation chemicals in you leading to worse diabetes or even cancer... [2]

The beauty about the system at http://diabetesmasteryblueprint.com and http://how-to-treat-diabetes.com/ is that you also avoid the dangers of eating the "wrong" kinds of fat... which a lot of guys get wrong in the Paleo diets and the media...

If foot ulcers are bad, stomach ulcers could be worse...

Anyway I think you should check them all out... they've all got interesting angles and information...
