yeah that raw skin goes hand in hand with inflammation. that'll cause the skin to build up and peel off too. in my case, my lips can look kind of swollen and redder than normal. they also used to burn like crazy, thankfully that doesn't happen much anymore.

i used hydrocortisone 1% for a couple of months in combination with moisturizing and avoiding irritation. then i switched to just moisturizer (aquaphor) and have continued to make progress. the HC 1% helped me a lot, be careful not to become overdependent on any steroid though

one other piece of advice that you probably dont need - try not to focus too much on it, like constantly checking mirrors etc, no good comes of it. if i could go back in time to the onset of my EC i'd just chill the f*** out and moisturize them
