Yes, we all need to act upon our internal voice and feeling of what's right.
Regarding B12 def in non-vegans: it is common in the framework of Intrinsic factor def (stomach isn't producing at all or enough) or intestinal under-absorption (Ileum, the last part of the small intestine, is malfunctioning).
