If you must apply anything use organic coconut oil. I have had to go places the last two days and it's been very difficult as my scabs are pretty bad. You must be mindful not to lick your lips to try and soften up the skin because they will dry out even worse. You have to be strong, what helps me is reminding myself that the people I'm meeting I'm not going to see again. If it's family or friends it can be helped by telling them about your problem. If people know that you have something wrong and know what it is, most people are nice about it and won't stand there staring at your lips.
