I really do not remember how long it took to get used to the cold. Could not have been more than a couple of weeks, tho'. I was working the night shift and there was a constant breeze. Inside was warm but when we went outside I noticed how folks were bundled up and I was in a tee shirt and very comfortable.

As you said, I do dread the first shot of cold water even now
