Doing a 40 day water fast, my plan was to do a 1-3 days dry here and there then go back onto water.

What I've found is that, that is virtually impossible. Especially once you get deep into the fast. Your mouth is so dry and dehydrated that dry fasting becomes virtually impossible.

Therefore, I only see this possible during a shorter water fast. Or simple doing a short dry fast.
