Honestly I was rather offended by some of the comments in this thread.

I find it very presumptuous for commenters to assume that Starbell has never had any "real" problems, or that she lacks empathy just because she is sharing an article which rang true to her. How I see it, Starbell's "agenda" is to help others who may have the same problems as she had.

I am also uncomfortable by the implication here that anorexia is not a "genuine illness."

ETA: I appreciated the positive comments on this thread by Natway and found Starbell to handle harsh and unwarranted criticisim with more grace than most :)
