My sister is a M.D. ( actually a J.D., M.D. ) and she has for years told me how corrupt the pharmaceutical industry is.

Also, the primary reason for the AMA is to protect the status and income of its members.

So anyone who thinks that the AMA is benevolent, sorry to burst your bubble.
