Well, it does contradict.
The question for me was - will I continue fasting for the time-out I already took, or will I give-in to the feeling I have to break the fast due to heavy intestinal discomfort (on top of all the other discomfort) and feeling intoxicated, - and I made my choice.
You can find how I did the flush few messages below.
The salt and the water taken in, out-weigh the absorption capacities and ends up out, hopefully cleaning on its way the residue that was giving the discomfort.
However, I am talking only from my perspective and only about myself.
I have had abdominal surgery, which created problem with elimination and at times stop of normal intestinal passage. So my choice is clear. I'd think people with history of constipation and similar discomfort will benefit the most.
I did not regret doing it. I have to report, although, that for the next two days I was hungry, which was a distinct change from before the flush.

I ended up fasting 5 more days, which was a big plus, given that I was contemplating to wrap up due to the discomfort. I stopped 5 days later due to shortness of breath and muscle contraction occurring often and for extended time; they were present before the flush, but became stronger with time.
The Russian fasting tradition advocates for daily enemas. Personally, I feel what I did was best for me. There may be people undertaking fasts that have so heavily impacted intestines, that daily enema may be their best choice.
