Look into fecal transplants have you been on Antibiotics ? If so sounds like you need probiotics. I wouldn't waste time and money on pills. Look into fecal transplant. You can do it at home using your hubby's poop and use it in a enema do it once day till your back to good health.

Make him eat alot of veggies and fruits for a few weeks to build put his probiotics or you can keep going back to the doctors and wanting to just die for the rest of your life. The choice is yours.
