NO, it is certainly not normal to have that burning sensation, especially with such a low dose of ALA!

That is the type of response I've read from those who are chelating with silver dental Amalgam fillings still present, sometimes with just Amalgam remaining under a crown.

For example

-200mg in B Complex w/ Amalgam present. "I had daily headaches.... I had the weirdest tingling sensation in my face going EXACTLY from the tooth ... up into my cheekbone."

...I took close to 200 different powerful herbs, and nutraceuticals including R-lipoate. It was at the end of that 5 month period, that I begin to get severe jaw pain around the rotten tooth ( the one that I did not know had an Amalgam in it). It was around this time that I essentially had chronic fatigue and anterograde amnesia set in. Another issue is the consumption of adequate antioxidants--vitamin C & E--while kicking up heavy metals with a high thiol/sulfur food or supplement. However even if you were not taking any antioxidants I would not expect such nasty sfx.

Are you taking doses of ALA frequently enough for you? Typical dosing for Cutler protocol is every 3 hours around the clock. People who miss a dose or skip night doses might get strange feelings in their head.

A few people, including me, feel better when taking doses more frequently than every 3 hrs. Again I doubt very much that this is your issue. My head feels less tingly and thinking clearer when taking doses more frequently and when taking more generous amounts of vitamin E.

A few people are very sensitive to kicking up HMs but it is rare to hear a report as unpleasant as yours when doing everything carefully and correctly.

Also taking DMSA or especially DMPS often reduces the side effects of ALA; however, I really doubt that this is the issue for you.

Did you have a recent exposure to mercury such as dental work?
